ART

The Art and Design curriculum at Jack Hunt Academy is ambitious, inclusive, and designed to develop students’ creativity, imagination, and technical proficiency.

We aim to cultivate an appreciation of art in all its forms, from traditional fine art techniques to modern digital and graphic practices. Our curriculum ensures students explore both the practical and theoretical aspects of art, gaining exposure to artists and movements from diverse cultures and historical periods. This encourages cultural literacy, empathy, and critical thinking, preparing students for both creative careers and a richer understanding of the world around them.

  • Students complete two main classwork projects per year, building both technical and conceptual skills.

  • They undertake homework projects aligned to GCSE and A Level assessment objectives (AO1 Artist Reference & AO3 Observational Studies).

  • Assessment at the beginning and end of the year enables tailored support and challenge.

  • Focus on foundational techniques in drawing, painting, 3D work, and digital media.

  • Exposure to artists, styles, and art movements to develop contextual understanding and critical evaluation skills.
