Jack Hunt Academy Shines in Languages and Culture

Spotlight on Modern Foreign Languages at Jack Hunt Academy

At Jack Hunt Academy, we are proud to celebrate the enthusiasm, creativity and dedication of our students and staff in Modern Foreign Languages.

We were delighted to receive a Certificate of Participation from the organisers of the European Day of Languages Writing Competition, recognising the fantastic entries submitted by our students. The organisers reminded us that:

“Communication is at the heart of a successful society. Learning how to use another language, discovering how languages work, and exploring the culture of other peoples are unique educational experiences.”

We couldn’t agree more. Our students’ passion for languages continues to shine through in everything they do.

To celebrate Spotlight on MFL Day, we also want to recognise the wonderful team who make it all happen – our dedicated teachers of French, Spanish and Urdu. Their commitment to fostering a love of languages helps our students gain confidence, broaden their horizons and connect with cultures around the world.

Our students are also busy taking part in LanguageNut’s November Competition, an online challenge where schools across the country compete for top spots on the leaderboard. Since the competition began on 10 November, our students have been steadily climbing up the rankings – we can’t wait to see how high they go (and hopefully win a prize along the way!).

Meanwhile, our Year 12 French students have been combining language learning with a taste of French cinema. As part of their A Level course, they study both a film and a book, and recently enjoyed a screening of La Haine (1995), directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, complete with hot chocolate and popcorn. The film follows three friends – Vinz, Saïd and Hubert – over 24 hours after a riot in their Paris suburb, providing powerful insights into French society and culture.

It’s been a fantastic term so far for our MFL department – full of creativity, collaboration and cultural discovery.
