Gold Medal Winner inspires students at Award Evening

Our Annual Sports Awards Evening, was celebrated at Jack Hunt School on Wednesday 22 November featuring a visit from an esteemed guest

Wednesday 22 November saw our annual Sports Award Evening, held to celebrate a wonderful year of sporting achievement. The evening showcased the many achievements of students from Jack Hunt School and our partner Primary schools together in a joint celebration.

A member of Great Britain’s gold-medal winning 4x400m relay team, Richard Buck, joined us for the evening to help present the awards and inspire the students. He talked through his experiences about his life and career as an Olympian and International Runner.

During the event 23 awards were presented. One of these awards, The Linda Dingle Award for Best Higher Sports Leader, was won by Sarah Abbs and Alice Taylor for their outstanding leadership, and ability to really motivate students to push them themselves.

The Best Sports Person in the Junior Athlete Education (JAE) Programme was won by Kieran Ebbage. Kieran is the reigning freestyle kickboxing in point world champion. He has obtained two British Championship titles and two grand championships. His biggest achievement came in October 2016 when he fought his way through various competitions and gained his World Champion status.

Mr Game said: ‘It is always fantastic to share the great achievements of our students with parents and the local community. The students have worked really hard to be successful. The talk given by Richard Buck was really interesting and thought provoking and I hope inspires our athletes to continue to achieve great things in the future. Well done to everyone involved.’
